Star gazing

Assembled and ready to be primed grey

Having painted this before, just wondering if you'd make any suggestions Gaz?

  1. I tackled this by painting different parts before assembly. First was the library and inside of the 'chariot'. Next was the vortex inside the cage, and make sure you do the inside of the cage as well. Don't worry too much with the floor detail, beautifully detailed as it is, you don't really get to see it. I would also do the stairs before gluing them in. The horses are wonderfully detailed as well, and much easier to paint before you glue them next to each other. In essence, paint the parts separately before assembly....sooo much easier.

    1. Thanks Gaz, will definitely paint before assembling. My main question was with the stairs (to glue ue or not glue down?) Also the advice about the inside of the cage is great too. With magnetising, I was thinking of doing all the guys and also the astrolabe thing so that I can remove the top for easy transportation. What do you think? I might need a larger magnet though? Do you have any bigger ones on hand for this scale? Not sure if it's worth buying a whole set just to do one model...

  2. Oh yeah, definitely paint the stairs first. Yup, magnetising is great for moving & storage. Don't worry about the magnets, I have extras that you can use

    1. Thanks Gaz - yeah it's such a great model that I want to get it right. Cheers for the magnets! I'm going to go for two types of blue and lots of metallics. Quite bright and I'll go for some OSL from the inner solar part of the astrolabe. Thinking bright blue - a bit like the High Elves!
