Aud Weidersehen Hexen: Witch Hunter

Meet Dieter von Sprüngler, Witch Hunter.

He's a combination of this type of witch hunter from Warhammer online.

And this guy: Jorge Sprave. How nutty is this?! I love the German sense of humour.

Back to the model:

What a great model! This miniature is great, despite my hatred of Finecast. I've got two variants - twin flintlock pistols and great weapon - and this is the first paint job.

In terms of research material, I used a few different sources to get the colours to fit with my army but also be slightly different. These two images were helpful:

  1. Gorgeous colours Tom, really like the red pants and metal detail amidst the sombre brown overcoat. The blues and yellows pick the model up nicely and provide a excellent contrast. The grass on the dark base is also wonderful, and good work on the wood-grain!

  2. (This is a retype of a comment which disappeared for some reason): Beautifully painted, Tom, and concur w/ Gary - my favourite parts are the coat, boots, hat, weapons and little details associated (e.g. medals). Oddly enough, I'm not so sure about the feathers and/or the pants in a way I can't quite put my finger on... I guess to me they make him seem a little bit too... jaunty? Or mabye the bushy white eyebrows make him seem too grandfatherly? I don't know, it's just a personal thing anyway, the technique is fantastic and who says a witch hunter should necessarily LOOK as grim as he is.

    1. Cheers Nick. Yeah, initially I did his feathers in an off-white colour but it didn't really stand out that much. It was a little too dark overall. I've got another one to do, so will go for an even darker colour palatte for the next one. A bit more like the first image, more blacks and less reds in the pants.
